OAK EGGAR (FEMALE):

"On Your Doorstep: Moths and Butterflies of Connemara" shows the male Oak Eggar.
Here is a rather worn FEMALE Oak Eggar (note the paler colouring and the antennae which lack the deep 'combs' of the male).
This specimen was resting up by day (yesterday: 31st July 2016), on the track which runs by the side of Coorhoor Lake, on the Aughrus Peninsula - a rather risky place to rest as it could very easily have been walked upon!

FLAME CARPET AND GARDEN CARPET CUDDLING UP:

Mary photographed this Flame Carpet (left) and Garden Carpet (right) cuddling up on our doorstep, this morning (1st August 2016). Both of these feature in "On Your Doorstep" (pages 96/97 & 100/101). Pretty moths!
